Ski 4 Kids (Anchorage)

Ski event: Storybook course for younger ski and part of Mize course for older kids.
Other activities: Obstacle course, laser biathlon, sit skiing, fat biking and more!

Mayor’s Marathon/Healthy Futures Kids Mile (Anchorage)

When: Thursday June 16, 7 p.m.
Where: Alaska Airlines Center, 3550 Providence Drive, University of Alaska Anchorage.
How much: Free! (Registration required in advance or on event night)
Distance: 1 Mile, untimed 
Course: Two laps of 1/2 mile each around the Alaska Airlines Center parking lot.
In attendance: Healthy Heroes role models will lead a warm-up, then run with kids and pass out Healthy Futures medals. This year’s lineup includes Olympians Luke Jager (Anchorage) and Novie McCabe (Washington) along with APU skier Thomas O’Harra and UAA cross country and track & field athletes.

Solstice Tree Tour —  (Anchorage)

When: Mid-December, Date TBD
Where: Kincaid Park, Mize Loop
What: Tour beautifully decorated trees on foot or on skis (demos available), enjoy s’mores and other treats at burn barrel warming stations and be part of Anchorage’s newest and increasingly popular winter tradition! Healthy Futures will be among the tree sponsors.
How much: Free!
Free Shuttles: With the growing popularity of the Solstice Tree Tour, free shuttle service will be provided by the Nordic Ski Association of Anchorage beginning at 4 p.m. at Kincaid Elementary School (4900 Raspberry Rd.) and at 6420 Kulis Dr.
Parking: On-site parking is $5 per car until filled (spots not used by VIPS and volunteers).
