Huffman Winter Sports Day (Anchorage)

When: Saturday, Feb. 9, 12-2 p.m. (Registration opens 11:30 a.m.)
Where: Huffman Elementary School, 12000 Lorraine St., Anchorage
How much: Minimum $5 per student, $20 per family.
Activities: Includes cross country skiing Husky Bergtski race at 12:30 p.m., plus ice skating, sledding, fat biking, dog mushing and more.

Ski 4 Kids (Anchorage)

ski4kidslogoWhen: Saturday February 23, 12-4 p.m.
Where: Kincaid Park, Anchorage
How much: No set fee; recommended donation is $20
Ski events: 3K timed and untimed events, plus a 1K storybook trail, 1:30 p.m. at Kincaid Stadium

Activities: Activity stations include speedskating, snowshoeing, orienteering treasure hunt, obstacle course, ski jumping, ski skiing, Challenge Alaska and fat tire biking.

Scholarships for Financial Hardship: Families with financial hardship can email Matias Saari at  matias@healthyfuturesak.org to request financial assistance for youth entry fees. Healthy Futures wants all youth to have the ability to participate and will cover entry fees for those who need assistance.
Healthy Heroes: Local role-model athletes, also called Healthy Heroes, will lead a warm-up for the kids, run with them and help pass out medals.
What for: Fundraiser for Healthy Futures. Donation possible when registering. Skinny Raven will match donations to $1,000.
