Healthy Futures Trading Card Contest

Healthy Futures is seeking 7th-12th grade students to help us design a set of trading cards of Alaska sports legends!

We’re accepting submissions through March 5th. All entries will be reviewed by a panel and cash prizes will be presented to our top three overall entries. The top entry for each athlete will be used on our trading cards which will be presented to elementary school students around the state as a prize for completing their Healthy Futures Challenge log.

Grand Prizes:

• 1^st place: $1,000
• 2^nd place: $500
• 3^rd place: $250

Submission Deadline:  March 5^th

Eligible Age: Open to 7^th-12^th grade Alaskan students

How to Submit: Email color scan of artwork and Student Cover Sheet to info@alaskasportshall,org or mail to Healthy Futures, PO Box 110201, Anchorage, AK 99511 by March 5th.

Submission Rules:  

• Artwork to be based off photo images provided of each of the 50 Alaska Sports Hall of Fame inductees here.
• Must be created with created as drawings or paintings (digital format acceptable) and use color.
• Backgrounds optional.
• Computer generated artwork will not be accepted.
• Submissions should only contain athlete rendering – not card graphic design or text.
• Students can only submit one entry per athlete but may submit one each of the 50 athletes.
• Submissions must fit to 1200 pixel width and 1650 pixel height parameters (2.5 x 3.5 ratio).
• Submissions must be signed with first and last name.
• Submissions must include a cover sheet.

Other prizes and recognition:

• First place winner will receive a VIP invitation to the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame ceremony and reception on June 3rd.
• Grand prize winners will receive a certificate and letter of commendation from the Healthy Futures executive director.
• The work will be shared on the Healthy Futures and Alaska Sports Hall of Fame website and social media platforms along with student’s names.
• All students who had a piece selected for a trading card will receive a Healthy Futures T-Shirt.
• All students submitting at least one entry will receive a Healthy Futures and Alaska Sports Hall of Fame sticker.

How the Cards will be Used: The trading cards will be presented to elementary school students across the state upon successful completion of a Healthy Futures monthly activity log.  The card template will be created by a graphic designer and will include career highlights and an inspirational quotes from the athlete on back side. Selected submission will include artist’s name and would be seen by thousands of elementary school kids across the state! The cards would also be displayed at public events including the annual Alaska Sports Hall of Fame awards banquet.
